The best time to travel to Edinburgh, Scotland
In our experience, the best time to travel to Edinburgh is between the end of May and September. Low temperatures can occur during these months, but nothing too absurd. It's also worth noting that even in the Scottish summer it's likely to rain or at least have cloudy days, like the one in the picture above.
The summer months are the best time to visit Edinburgh because there are more hours of sunshine. It's common for it to start getting dark after 11pm, which makes it possible to enjoy the city even more.

However, if you're flexible with your budget, August is a great time to visit Scotland's capital. I can guarantee that you'll have plenty of things to do in addition to Edinburgh's traditional and great sights.
We travelled to Edinburgh in mid-July and felt the rise in hotel prices, so we ended up staying in a private room in a hostel.
Some days were cloudy and others sunny, but there was hardly any rain. What's more, having more hours of sunshine is great for sightseeing.
If you're looking for cheap months to travel to Edinburgh and don't mind the cold, April, October and November are good options, with average temperatures of 8°C, 10°C and 7°C respectively. Only November has very few hours of sunshine.
